Norwegian pop star Sigrid has just released the new single 'Sucker Punch', following her Raw EP and festival performances at Reading & Leeds and Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend. 'Sunker Punch' also comes with an augmented reality lyric video using new technology, which has a ‘smartphone’ aesthetic mirroring our social media landscape.
The opening night of Norwegian pop sensation Sigrid’s UK tour had sold out in a flash as soon as it was announced, even before the BBC crowned her as the winner of their Sound Of, 2018 award. The list of previous winners reads like a who’s who of modern music stars – Adele, Michael Kiwanuka, HAIM, Sam Smith and Years & Years have all come top of the prestigious industry award during the last decade. With just one EP and a couple of other singles to her name, Sigrid Solbakk Raabe may have only just turned 21 but all of the signs are pointing towards global domination for the diminutive singer from the small town of Ålesund.
BBC Sound Of 2018 winner Sigrid has released ‘Raw’, the first in a collection of brand new material, set to drop every week.
The last few months have been remarkable for the Norwegian pop sensation. From an outstanding Nobel Peace Prize performance, to reaching the top 10 in the UK charts with ‘Strangers’, the 21-year-old’s defiant pop songs and non-conformist attitude to femininity, allied to incredible live shows, has seen her quickly become a star worldwide.
