Despite previously appearing back in 2015, the return of Mutations Festival feels like a brand-new festival. Now an all-dayer in a single venue rather than a multi-venue bash, as well as relocating to Portslade’s Hansen Hall and bringing Small Pond on board as co-promoters, it already felt like a whole new thing entirely. As such, there were certainly some teething problems on the day, such as a lack of facilities for such a large number of people, problems with the screens in the main room and, crucially, running out of pints way before its conclusion. However, there was certainly enough promise to keep Mutations alive long enough to become an annual tradition.
Since announcing its return at the end of last year, with a line-up consisting of headliners White Denim, as well as Snapped Ankles, Josefin Ohrn and Goat Girl, there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding Mutations Festival, resurrected by One Inch Badge and Small Pond Recordings. Now, we’ve learnt where it’s taking place as well as the line-up in its entirety.
Make no mistake about it, day festival fever has hit Brighton in recent years. No doubt ignited by the success of The Great Escape festival, over the last year alone we’ve had Bad Pond festival, Washed Out festival and Lewes Psychedelic festival all provide us with fantastic entertainment and value for money. Now, the good folks at One Inch Badge and Small Pond are reviving Mutations festival, which last took place in 2015.
