Penelope Isles sign to Bella Union, share first track off debut album

Despite originally hailing from the Isle of Man, Brighton-based outfit Penelope Isles have always been a typical Brighton band. From their beautifully striking melodies, to the way they conduct themselves on and off stage, they’ve enchanted Brighton audiences with ease.

Which gives us great pleasure to announce the news that the majority of Brighton will already know: they’ve signed to indie label Bella Union, and 2019 will see the release of their debut record Until the Tide Creeps In.

As well as this ‘huge’, ‘leftfield’ announcement, we’ve received the band’s lead single for the record, ‘Chlorine’, which comes in the form of a live performance from Brighton’s Bella Studios. A song which will be known to followers of the band – as they usually open their set with it – it’s a track that the band describe as, “a heart-breaking family divide”. A potent, expansive and soaring track, it’s a wonderful gateway to a brand-new era for Penelope Isles. With a release date for Until the Tide Creeps In yet to be announced, consider our appetites whet for more news.

Additionally, the band will head out on a mammoth UK tour which starts in London at the end of January, stopping off on the way at SXSW in Austin, Texas, before returning to England for a homecoming show at Brighton’s The Great Escape.
