Orbital and Bill Ryder-Jones to appear in Resident

Brighton’s brilliant record store, Resident, have announced a couple of juicy in-stores coming in the next few weeks.

First, in celebration of National Album Day, Brighton-based duo Orbital will be doing a meet-and-greet on 13th October, along with a playback of their new album Monsters Exist.

Following that, The Coral’s Bill Ryder-Jones will be doing an in-store performance and signing session on the back of his new album, Yawn, on 8th November at 6.30pm. You can pre-order the album on any format to receive a free guest-list.

National Album Day takes place for the first time this year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the album format. Events are taking place all over the country. A social media campaign (@AlbumDayUK / #NationalAlbumDay) will invite people to nominate and share the album that has most inspired them, and at 3.33pm on 13th October, fans, stores, radio stations and public spaces will be invited to play their favourite album in full.

Over 135 million albums were either purchased, downloaded or streamed in 2017, a rise of 9.5% on 2016, and 4.1 million of these were on vinyl, the highest level since the start of the 1990s.

The BPI estimates that five billion albums have been sold in the UK since the format’s advent in 1948.
