Last year’s Brighton Festival, curated by David Shrigley, produced some of the finest gigs of the year. The likes of Ezra Furman and Jungle graced the Brighton Dome stage for some unforgettable performances, and the 2019 edition looks set to be similarly fantastic. Directed this time by Malian singer, songwriter and guitarist Rokia Traore, this year’s programme is brimming with beautiful talent.
While the likes of Ben Okri, Jon Ronson, Zawe Ashton and Chilli Gonzales will be gracing the city, most excitingly is the announcement that Grammy award winner Neneh Cherry will be performing at the festival on Saturday 25th May at the Brighton Dome. Fresh off her brilliant 2018 album Broken Politics, it’s sure to be a fascinating showcase of one of the most innovative artists of her generation.
