Lump, a collaboration between Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay, have announced a new self-titled album to be released on 1st June.
The Grammy-nominated, BRIT award-winning, multiple Mercury-nominated Laura Marling follows up the release of her acclaimed album of last year, Semper Femina, with the announcement of a collaboration with Mike Lindsay of folktronic trailblazers Tunng, and also Throw.
Lump was born of good timing when Lindsay was introduced to Marling after her show supporting Neil Young in London. On meeting, Lindsay and Marling discovered they had long been admirers of each other’s work.
Calling each other Lump, the self-titled album was recorded in Lindsay’s London studio. They’ve just shared the first fruits of the album, ‘Curse of the Contemporary’, a lyric born of Marling’s recent residency in Los Angeles. The accompanying video was created by the motion graphics designer Esteban Diacono.
‘Curse of the Contemporary’ is also available for Record Store Day, as a 12” translucent green vinyl.
Marling and Lindsay will be touring Lump this summer, including a date with Latitude festival, and two shows in one night at Oslo, in Hackney.
