American singer/songwriter Kurt Vile has been quiet on the solo front for some time now. Of course, he’s been productive in the meantime, releasing an album of material, Lotta Sea Lice, co-written with Courtney Barnett, but ‘Loading Zones’ is the first new solo single since 2015.
The humorous Drew Saracco-directed ‘Loading Zones’ video pays tribute to Vile’s native Philadelphia (i.e. his “Dirty little town”), and features appearances by actor Kevin Corrigan – best known for his roles in Pineapple Express, Superbad, The Departed and Goodfellas – and Matt Korvette of Pissed Jeans. Both song and video revolve around Vile’s (illegal) parking strategy: park in loading zones, but not for long.
While there’s no word yet on whether the song belongs to a new album, Vile will be touring here in the UK later on this year, including a date at Concorde 2 in Brighton, 5th November.
