KT Tunstall returns with new album and UK tour

One of Scotland’s finest, KT Tunstall has released the lead single, ‘The River’, from her forthcoming sixth studio album Wax, which will be released on 5th October. All the tracks are co-written with Franz Ferdinand’s Nick McCarthy, who also produces the album, along with co-production from duo MyRiot (London Grammar and Birdy).

Ex-Ash member and guitarist Charlotte Hatherley is also on Wax. Following the success of 2016’s Top 10 album KIN, this is the second part of a trilogy which explores themes of spirit, body, and mind, with Wax focussing on the body, and our complex relationships with physicality.

Recently awarded the Inspirational Artist gong at the Women In Music Awards, Tunstall was also chosen as the first ever female Grand Marshal (following the likes of Sir Sean Connery) to lead April’s annual New York Tartan Week parade.

In May, she and Mike McCready, of legendary multi-million selling Pearl Jam, also released a cover of Tom Petty’s huge hit single ‘I Won’t Back Down’ with proceeds going to Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy Foundation. Tunstall has spent the summer touring worldwide with the likes of The Pretenders, Simple Minds and Barenaked Ladies.

As part of a UK tour next year, she’ll be performing at the Brighton Dome on 18th March.
