Holger Czukay – Cinema

5 Vinyl/CD Boxset released 23rd March 2018 via Grönland

Bassist and engineer with the massively influential Can, Holger Czukay enjoyed a fruitful post-Can career from 1977, which is being celebrated via a five vinyl/CD boxset Cinema, released 23 March, to coincide what would have been his 80th birthday, as well as coinciding with Can’s 50th anniversary since their inception. Following his death last year, Cinema explores his extensive back catalogue including collaborations with Brian Eno, Jah Wobble and Karlheinz Stockhausen, alongside previously unreleased music.

In keeping with Holger’s reputation as an artist ahead of his times, the vinyl boxset includes a ‘Vinyl Video’: a system that makes it possible to store video footage on vinyl. The revolutionary 7″ contains a previously unreleased video of Holger introducing his first video recording, said video recording and the music video for his iconic track ‘Cool In The Pool’ from his 1979 album Movies, along with a photo booklet, and a DVD of Krieg der Tone (War of the Sounds), a musical slapstick comedy!
