What a year Brighton-based three-piece Demob Happy had last year. Returning from the brink of dissolution, after losing a band member, the band released their sophomore album Holy Doom to critical acclaim. Not only that, but the trio also provided main support for Jack White on his mammoth UK tour, as well as touring America with Nothing but Thieves. To think they started by playing sets at Brighton house parties!
The band are back with a brand-new single, which drops just as they’re about to embark on another UK tour. Called ‘Less is More’, it’s another thrilling track with a brilliantly sleazy opening and a jagged, dynamic guitar line throughout. Less may be more, but Demob Happy never deal in half-measures.
Talking about the track, frontman Matthew Marcantonio says, “It looks like less, but it sounds like more. You can dissolve it any way you need to, but for us it wasn’t literal. We threw our all at it, doing things that made us uncomfortable, because you wither and die if you don’t keep moving. There’s so much hidden away on this record you’d think we were joking, but we aren’t. Less is more, more or less.”
Demob Happy hit the road on 24th February, and finish up at Brighton’s Concorde 2 on 2nd March for their biggest Brighton show yet.
