It’s been over a year since we’ve heard new music from Chloé Bodur but that, by any means, doesn’t mean she’s not been busy. Gigging across the South East – including two excellent shows at The Hope & Ruin and in Brixton supporting Normanton Street – she’s become one of our favourite artists in the city. Thankfully, after the long wait for music, she’s returned with the beautiful ‘Billie’.
An atmospheric, moody soul song, with Bodur’s now trademark smokey vocals, it’s simply brilliant. Influenced by film noir, its brass backdrop is a throwback to the world of classical Hollywood. Simply, Bodur is making music far beyond her years and this return could be better than her excellent debut ‘Glory’.
