Brighton band Youth Sector have impressed us in the latter stages of this year, particularly with shows supporting Childcare and Bloxx. Showcasing a brand of spiky, noisy post-punk brilliantly fused with mid-00s indie and late-90s pop-punk, the band have exhibited an impressive formula with tracks such as ‘Automatic’ and ‘Dig it and Repeat’.
Now, the band are closing out the year with another excellent single. ‘Success’ once again sees the four-piece explore crooked guitars and expert melodies, but this time the band’s vocals are massively exciting. Like Michael Stipe meets Frank Black, there’s an inherent listenability to frontman Nick Tompkins’ vocals. Influenced by 80s and 90s American rock, with a hook-heavy chorus, ‘Success’ is another triumph for the Brighton band.
