Here at Brightonsfinest we love a heady dose of noisy garage rock. From supporting the likes of Idles and Shame every step of the way, it looks like Brighton outfit Guru could follow on in their footsteps as our very own noisemakers. Describing themselves quite brilliantly as “Post-avant-garde-psychedelic-doom-nü-pop”, they impressed us recently with a superb support slot for Kagoule at The Prince Albert.
Now, they’ve followed up the erratic ‘Medicine Man’ with ‘Consumer Helpline’, an anxiety-riddled, unpredictable and unstable slice of garage rock that sees frontman Tom Cherrill’s vocals impress. In addition to the single, the band will be going on tour to celebrate the release starting with a show at The Richmond on 22nd November as part of Strange Cages’ ‘Deadbeat Disco’.
