Banumathi new single breathes new life into the band

Brighton’s Banumathi have shown a glistening pop shimmer fused with r’n’b tendencies on their early singles ‘Sugar Rush’ and ‘Jam Cafe’. A soothing mixture of genres, they’ve announced themselves as something truly different in the Brighton music scene. Now the band have returned with their third single ‘Breath’ which is, simply, a breath of fresh air.

A breezy summery pop track, with a surprisingly steely guitar line, it could be their best song yet. Talking to us exclusively, the band told us, ‘Breath’ is a reggae-infused soul/hip-hop track which was written by Malique Greaves (lead vocal and guitar) and Naomi Moodie (keyboard and bv’s). The song was born out of a rehearsal jam session in December 2017 and underwent many changes before becoming the track that Banumathi eventually recorded.”

The band are set to play the North Laine Brewhouse on Saturday 23rd February, so head down if you want to hear the track in the flesh.
