2018 marks an incredible 50 years of the Isle of Wight Festival, which will be celebrating its anniversary from 21st-24th June. 1968 was the year, attracting the likes of Jefferson Airplane, Arthur Brown, The Move, Smile, T-Rex (then known as Tyrannosaurus Rex), Fairport Convention and The Pretty Things. Those last two are still going strong, as is this iconic festival, which perhaps most famously attracted over half a million people to the 1970 event, and was the occasion for Jimi Hendrix’s final ever UK appearance.
The festival still features a cross section of some of the best acts around, and this year is no exception. Manic Street Preachers, Chase & Status, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Rita Ora, and Sheryl Crow have just been announced, adding to the already impressive line-up that includes Depeche Mode, The Killers, Kasabian, Van Morrison, Blossoms, and James Bay.
