David Elphick – Bmusic

We are a community focussed music TV production company aimed at promoting the local music scene in a thorough and unbiased way possible through entertaining and informative television programming. In short, we exist to shine a spotlight on all corners of this fantastic, talent-rich local music scene by putting it online and on TV. Tim Brown – Director – Cine City

Well on the one hand, as you would expect, it involves a lot of watching films and making selections for the festival. We are a very small team and we are all involved in this to some degree but we also have a network of friends and colleagues who tip us off about things and make recommendations. We also try and work in collaboration rather than in competition with other festivals across the UK. An example this year is our Opening Night film BIRDMAN, which simultaneously closes the Leeds Film Festival and opens CINECITY on the same night, Thursday 20th November.

James Mckeown – One Inch Badge

I started promoting concerts & club-nights independently at 16 years old. During this early period I also started promoting online & regionally for an established Brighton promoter. This led to me promoting independently within Brighton and eventually being asked to work in-house at Concorde2 as a booker and programmer. For over 5 years I worked closely with the (then) new owner redeveloping the venue, ensuring that not only the programming was progressive, but also that the business was healthy and enough time & love was being put back into the venue. I’m glad to see that hard work is all paying off now and that the venue is thriving. In 2014 One Inch Badge will have promoted 28 shows at the venue.

I started playing drums at 14, got qualified in Energy Engineering, but turned to drumming professionally in my early 20s. As a professional player I’ve played for many different artists, from Alvin Stardust to Martha Reeves, Freakpower to Jason Derulo! I started with BIMM in 2002, at the very beginning, as Head of Drums, and have been here ever since. I write a regular feature in Rhythm magazine every month, which I’ve done for 12 years, and also run my own drum studio in Seaford.

Bill Smith – Managing Director – Latest TV

It’s been talked about for a while but finally proper local TV is here, on your television sets, computers, tablets and mobile devices from the end of August. While America has had very successful local cable TV for decades, this is very new to the UK. In all, 30 licenses have been granted in the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Norwich, Nottingham, London, Grimsby and, of course, Latest TV in Brighton. Some are on air already, all are expected to be on air by the end of the year. There is plenty of scope to get involved too, either as a programme maker, producer, editor, cameraman, or in any way to do with television.
