This is very exciting news, indeed. JF Sebastian, from Brighton band Underwater Boys, has dropped his debut single ‘Komodo’ and we’re big, big fans of it – and not just because he’s named himself after a character from Blade Runner.

Brighton post-punkers Egyptian Blue drop ‘To Be Felt’ and announce support slots
After an incredible 2017, where we saw them support the likes of YOWL and Strange Cages as well as headlining Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar in their own right, Egyptian Blue have continued that momentum into 2018 with some excellent shows in both London and on the South Coast. Now they’ve released their fourth single, ‘To Be Felt’, which is a cracker. With razor sharp guitars and crashing melodies, it’s a heady dose of brilliant post-punk.
Idles back in Brighton
It didn’t take long, did it? Soon after their brilliant sold out show at Concorde 2 a few days ago, Bristol five-piece Idles have announced a new date, as part of a global tour, this time at the Dome, on 29th March. Three times the capacity, no doubt this will sell out as well, so you’d better be quick!!

Our Girl to make their live TV debut
Continuing their sensational year, it has been confirmed that the Brighton three-piece, Our Girl, are about to make their live debut on national TV. Following on from their impressive debut album, Stranger Today, which we said, “Unfurls its aural delights gently, but forcibly, the songwriting often nuanced and intricate”, as well as their triumphant homecoming show at The Haunt last week, the band are performing on Saturday morning football show Soccer AM. Usually reserved for the ‘laddier’ bands (Blossoms, The Coral and Slaves have all made appearances recently).
Take a sip of Moonoversun with their brand-new single ‘Drinkin’
Moonoversun, the pop duo who were the first band signed to Brighton-based independent record label Pool Valley Records, have had a cracking 2018 thus far with two fantastic singles in the form of ‘Girls/Boys’ and ‘Friendz’. Embracing their pop sensibilities wholly, as well as creating a gorgeous and colourful aesthetic for themselves, both their records and live shows have an enticing postmodernist pop twinge.
Get ‘Unchained’ with the latest cut from punk hip-hop duo Para Fiction
We’ve got a strong affiliation with punk meets hip-hop duo Para Fiction here at Brightonsfinest due to attending their first ever gig, supporting HAUS (where we said they “Expertly combine the jangly math-rock of the likes of Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club, with the boisterous vocals akin to Benny Mails and Rejjie Snow”) and subsequently witnessing their rise through the ranks to an extremely exciting band.
Safe to Swim are here to make ‘Friends’ with brand-new single
We’re big fans of indie-pop outfit Safe to Swim here at Brightonsfinest, having seen their devastating live display numerous times around the city, most recently with their excellent set at Hidden Herd’s festival back in September. Now the band look set to take it to the next level with new single ‘Friends’.
One Eyed Jacks’ Scarlett Fae releases debut single ‘Knew You’
Whether it was a natural progression, or down to promoters and labels like QM Records, but Brighton is not just known as guitar band central anymore. Over the last year to 18 months, the genres of soul and funk have gained prominence on the unsigned scene with the likes of Banumathi, Caged Tigers and Francesca Fulmini each releasing soul-tinged delights. Now, Scarlett Fae, from seven-piece funk-rock band One Eyed Jacks, has dropped her debut single ‘Knew You’.
