David Gedge's At The Edge Of The Sea Festival has a bit of competition this year as Brightonsfinest Presents weigh in with our very own festival for the August Bank Holiday, “at the edge of the sea and up a ruddy great pole” Brighton's i360 will play host to the world's first vertical festival: The Sky's The Limit. It's been a logistical nightmare to plan and find a suitable line-up, featuring tribute acts themed for the event, but the opportunity to put on a show that's a shoe-in for a Guinness World Record proved irresistible to us. As I'm sure you can imagine, space in the i360 pod is limited, the normal 200 capacity has been somewhat reduced to create space for live bands to perform in, so we will be selling several different tiers of ticket offering different levels of access to the entertainment.
At the top VIP tier you'll be riding up and down the pole all day like Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago, taking in all the live performances from the intimacy of the pod. At the lowest level you'll have access to bars and an auditorium constructed at street level, where you can gaze up at the pod, adorned with PA speakers pumping out performances, which will also be live broadcast to giant screens surrounding the perimeter, there will also be select performances on a ground-floor stage several times on each day. The intermediary tickets give you the chance to enter the pod for your favourite acts on each day – choosing from 1, 3 and 5 ascensions – better snap these up quick as we're sure they'll sell like hot cross buns!
Confirmed on the bill so far we have The Level 42, Aerosteine (who promise a rousing rendition of 'Love In An Elevator'), The Sliding Stones, Tower Swift, Kanye East, Phoenix Rise, Lift To Elm Grove, Barry Whitehawk, Explosions Inn The Sky, Dyke Leopard, Hove Zeppelin and, just announced today a reformed Yazzz will be with us to perform a special version of 'The Only Way Is Up'. The event has received some great support from Brighton & Hove Albion FC, in recognition of their contribution we've adorned the tower in Blue and White stripes, and The Blue And White Stripes themselves (Brighton's very own Albion themed White Stripes cover band) will be performing at ground level every afternoon during the 3-day festival.
