Dog In The Snow

  • Dog In The Snow announced for Brightonsfinest Alt Escape show

Dog In The Snow announced for Brightonsfinest Alt Escape show Dog In The Snow announced for Brightonsfinest Alternative Escape Showcase Dog In The Snow is the moniker of Brighton-based singer/songwriter Helen Ganya Brown, who experiments with existential-driven lyrics and layers of off-kilter sounds to create a peripatetic musical landscape. As well as being a member of both Lost Horizons, and Fear of Men, she released her debut album last year, Consume Me, a work of ethereal, electronic balladry.
  • Record Store Day Special – Brighton – 21st April 2018

Record Store Day Special – Brighton – 21st April 2018 Record Store Day Special – Brighton – Saturday 21st April 2018 Suitably for an occasion which was initially inspired by the Free Comic Book Day in North America back in 2007, the superheroes that run our local independent record stores came together for Record Store Day. Whereas most retailers would do simply anything to get one over their rivals, this felt different - Brighton’s four indie stores seemed to operate in a friendly and collaborative manner, with a lot of effort put in to avoid event clashes rather than direct competition. Between them, Resident, Vinyl Revolution, Bella Union and Rarekind (as well as a special event at Brighton Dome organised by Spectrum in celebration of local artists) made sure that the whole of Brighton could join in the...
  • Dog In The Snow – Wagner Hall – 28th October 2017

Dog In The Snow – Wagner Hall – 28th October 2017 Dog In The Snow – Wagner Hall – 28th October 2017 They’ve moved the entrance to Wagner Hall. I’m starting off with that statement straight away because it would have been real good to know before the show on Saturday! I’m not sure how long the new entrance has been in place and it’s a definite improvement, but not knowing made me miss Yumi & The Weather. I first went to the old entrance, round the back of West Street, where I could faintly hear them kicking off. The new entrance is just off West Street on Regency Road, but it’s obviously an old Brighton road which got cleaved in half when Churchill Square and its car parks were plonked down in the middle many years ago. So it’s a street with two halves which do no connect, and Google Maps sent me to the...

  • The Great Escape Festival 2017 - 18th-20th May 2017

The Great Escape Festival 2017 - 18th-20th May 2017 The Great Escape Festival 2017 -  18th-20th May 2017 Another year, and another huge comedown after the exhilaration of three days of heady music, heavy bodily abuse, and heaving bodies. It’s kind of the same as a festival in a field, minus the camping, and the mud. There are more than 450 performances on over 30 stages, played out to an overall audience of 20,000. Like a traditional festival, there is plenty of schlepping from one stage to the next, re-fuelling at various points, staying up too late and getting up too early. Crucially though, almost everyone is here to actually watch and listen to music, and everyone has a real...
